On the specialty of Nagai city as a region with a proud beach lined with trees
Refers to such The Sangam era historical city of Nagai was separated from the Thanjavur district of the Chola region on 8.10.1991. The district is located in the coastal southeast region. It is also located in the tributary (delta) district of Cauvery. It is also a district that has various tourist attractions. In order to promote the development of such an important medical sector, in the interest of the people of Nagai district, the foundation stone was laid on 07.03.2020 for the establishment of a Government Medical College and Hospital on an area of 60.04661 acres at a cost of 410 crores at Orathur village, and the construction of the college building was started and the construction was successfully completed by the Public Works Department.
The committee appointed by the National Medical Commission (NMC) on 18.10.2021 conducted a consultative meeting and examined the facilities and quality of the hospital for medical students and gave the approval on 03.11.2021.
The college was opened on 12.01.2022 by video presentation by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India and the Hon'ble Chief Minister of our state and is functioning properly.
Following that, a total of 450 students are studying medicine in our college for the three-year intake of 2021-2022, 2022-2023, and 2023-2024.
As per the recommendation of the National Medical Commission, it has been stipulated that the medical college campus should be functional during the intake of students in 2024-2025.
A 700-bed hospital with 6 floors has been built at a cost of 102 crores. Its infrastructure is as follows.

24-hour emergency departments (TAEI ward). Cardiac Care Units (ICCU), Intensive Care Units (ICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU), Pediatric Intensive Care Units (PICU), and Obstetrics and Gynecology High Intensive Care Units (HDU) are ideally located in our hospital.
Our Government Medical College Hospital. It ranks fourth in Tamil Nadu in cataract surgery.
Apartments for accommodation of doctors, resident doctors, resident medical officers, nursing superintendents, trainee hostels (CRMI), nurses, office staff, etc. The bank, post office, etc., are well constructed at an estimate of 71 crores.
Such a new, modern 700-bed hospital was inaugurated on 04.03.2024 by the Minister of Health and People's Welfare, Hon'ble Shri. Ma. Subramanian, in the presence of Hon'ble Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Hon. M.K. It will be inaugurated by Stalin through a video presentation and made available to the general public.
